East Tennessee PBS hosts a free screening of the Independent Lens documentary "The New Black," on Thursday, June 20, 5:30 p.m. at Scruffy City Hall in Knoxville's historic Market Square.
"The New Black" takes viewers from church pews to the streets to kitchen tables, as it follows how the African American community is grappling with LGBT rights in light of the recent same-sex marriage movement and the fight over civil rights.
Admission is free and open to guests aged 21 and over.
