It's been 50 years since the 1963 March on Washington drew a record crowd to our nation's capital, sending a message that people no longer wanted a separate, unequal world.
One of the people who led the civil rights movement is Knoxville resident Reverend Harold Middlebrook, who had a close friendship with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and even witnessed his death in Memphis in 1968.
Reverend Middlebrook sat down with "Up Close" host Stephanie Aldrich to talk about the struggle for equality, and his personal experiences that helped change America half a century ago.
"Up Close" is a production of East Tennessee PBS, presented by Tennova Healthcare.
